FIFTY (50) CHILDREN born on Christmas 🤶  DAY, 2th December, 2022 at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH)and the Kumasi Metro Children’s Hospital on Monday, Boxing day received specially packaged hampers from MTN Ghana. 

The gesture, an annual tradition by the mobile telecommunication company is tailored towards bringing joy on the faces of mothers who deliver their babies on Christmas  day.

Adwoa Konadu, a 35 year old mother who had given birth to a baby unofficially named “Akosua Bronya” at KATH said the gesture by MTN had suddenly given her strength.

She disclosed that her baby came through a caesarian session but was doing well as well as the child.

Elizabeth Fofie, a trader and of 27 years at the Kumasi Children’s Hospital said the gesture of MTN was commendable since the items in the hamper was what the baby would need in its early stage.

MTN Technical Head:

Mr Charles Osei Akoto, Senior Technical Head-MTN Northern Business District reiterated the commitment of MTN to bring smiles on the faces of mothers who give birth on Christmas day.

He noted that the gesture forms part of the three priority areas of MTN which has health care as a major pillar of the company’s activities.

Mr Akoto said the gesture was being replicated across all the 16 regions of the country.

“MTN does this donation every year and this year we added 100 cedis airtime to all the 50 beneciaries. We also added clinical hand gloves and 400 cedis worth of airtime to authorities at the delivery ward so that it can facilitate and enhance the work they do”, the Senior Technical Head noted.

Senior Midwife:

Senior MIDWIFE at Kumasi Metro Children’s Hospital,  Evelyn Osei Sraha advised mothers to visit the hospital regularly for check up.

She said ante natal care was the most effective way of getting mothers the support and attention they need during conception.

Madam Sraha cautioned against the use of herbal medicine to treat pregnancy, adding that the best care was only available at the hospital.

“I would humbly advise women to quickly attend to the hospital for ante natal care as soon as they realise they have conceived so that all care is given to them until child birth”, the Senior Midwife noted.
