The newly elected Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as COKA has reaffirmed his commitment to running an inclusive administration.
Speaking during an official engagement with the party’s Founding Members and Council of Elders in Kumasi, COKA declared that his executive team would actively engage all former aspirants from the recent regional contests to ensure total unity ahead of future electoral battles.
Background
The Ashanti Region serves as the electoral stronghold of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Following intense regional executive elections, political reconciliation and structural reform have emerged as top priorities for the new leadership.
COKA’s pledge marks a deliberate departure from past political factionalism, aiming to solidify party cohesion across the region.
Pledge of Inclusivity:
Addressing the party veterans, Chairman Odeneho emphasized that no individual holds a monopoly on knowledge, stressing the need to leverage diverse perspectives to strengthen party operations.
“I give you my word that my administration will be fundamentally different from previous eras, where members were sidelined due to factional affiliations,” COKA stated.
He added, “We are bringing everyone on board so their supporters and admirers can actively contribute to our collective success.”
Regional Secretariat:
To modernize party operations, the new leadership has outlined a two-phase infrastructure strategy:
Permanent Secretariat:
Plans are underway to construct a state-of-the-art regional party office.
Architectural designs and technical drawings are currently being finalized, with a sod-cutting ceremony scheduled within the next month to mark the official commencement of construction.
Interim Headquarters:
Pending the completion of the permanent structure, the administration has secured a fully functional office complex near the Ridge Police Station in Kumasi to handle daily administrative affairs and executive meetings.
Stakeholder Endorsement:
Party stalwarts expressed strong optimism regarding the new leadership’s proactive approach.
Speaking on behalf of the elders, Madam Serwaah Derkyi, former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ejisu and a founding member of the regional party, commended the chairman for convening the consultative meeting so early in his tenure, urging the executive committee to maintain regular engagements with party elders.
The meeting was attended by all newly elected regional executives, alongside several former aspirants, signaling a unified front for the party’s regional chapter.
