As the New Patriotic Party (NPP) prepares for its highly anticipated Ashanti Regional executive elections, the Member of Parliament for Tano North, Dr. Gideon Boako, has urged party delegates to reject political propaganda and focus on proven track records when electing new leadership.
Speaking to a packed gathering of delegates and party faithful in the Afigya Kwabre South Constituency on Wednesday, Dr. Boako made a strong case for Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as “COKA”—describing him as a pragmatic leader capable of revitalizing the party’s grassroots structure in its primary electoral stronghold.

Addressing the delegates, Dr. Boako cautioned against the prevalent practice of circulating slate lists and unverified claims during internal party elections, emphasizing that strategy and tangible performance outweigh political maneuvering.
“Propaganda does not win elections,” Boako asserted.
He noted that “Whenever internal elections draw near, individuals begin generating lists to sway opinions… but lists do not deliver victories. This election is about the delegates’ resolve to secure the best possible future for the NPP. If the Ashanti NPP is to function effectively once more, then COKA has already laid the groundwork. I stand with COKA, and I am confident you do as well.”
Dr. Boako, who serves in the Ahafo Region but remains an influential voice within the broader party hierarchy, framed the upcoming election as a critical juncture for the NPP as it consolidates its organizational strength ahead of national campaigns.
