2 Minutes

Thanks to the benevolence of a US philanthropist, Mr. Morgan More, the Prince of Peace Girls Senior High School in Kumasi, Ghana, has a new fit-for-purpose dormitory block.

The much-needed school building project, aimed at easing congestion, was started by the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) in 2022 but stalled at the foundation level as a result of financial constraints

US-based Monsignor Dominic Asiedu Fosu wooed Mr. Morgan More to come to the aid of the school and took over financing of the project in 2025. About 20 new beds were also donated.

Inaugurating the dormitory block on Monday, November 2, 2026, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Kumasi, His Grace Most Rev. Gabriel Justice Yaw Anokye was full of praise for Mr. Morgan More in particular, and Monsignor Asiedu Fosu for their kind gesture.

He appealed to priests and other well-to-do individuals to emulate their good example. He expressed hope that the gesture would inspire students to learn while urging staff to ensure proper usability and maintenance.

Addressing the colourful inaugural ceremony, Monsignor Asiedu Fosu, filled with joy, thanked Mr. More for his invaluable contribution to the completion of the facility.

Poised to do more for the school, he assured that he would solicit additional support to give the school a facelift and make it a conducive environment for quality teaching and learning.

On behalf of the Headmistress of the school, Mrs. Rita Nti Acheampong, the Senior Housemistress, described the facility as an investment in the comfort, safety, dignity, and academic success of the students.

She thanked Monsignor Asiedu Fosu and partners in the diaspora for their generosity. She promised to maintain the facility while appealing for further support to address other pressing needs, including classrooms and science laboratories.

She prayed that the edifice would become a place of peace, learning, and transformation for generations of students.

Present at the ceremony were Rev. Father Mark Opoku Acheampong, Parish Priest of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, South Suntreso; Rev. Father Felix Baffour Gyaw, Chancellor; Rev. Father Augustus Amankwaa, School Chaplain.

Others present were Rev. Father Anthony Amponsah Poku, Management Member; Mr. Joseph Kwaku Larbi, PTA Chairman; Dr. Anthony Badu Peprah, Former Church Executive; as well as staff and students of the school.
