Less than 1 minute

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has distributed 400 sets of furniture to four Senior High Schools (SHSs) as part of efforts to enhance quality education in the metropolis.

Through the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF), 100 sets were given each to Prince of Peace SHS, Wesley Girls’ SHS, Kumasi Senior High Technical School (KSHTS), and Islamic SHS, with plans to extend similar support to 10 other schools.

Metropolitan Chief Executive, Hon. Richard Ofori Agyeman Boadi, stated that the government recognises the importance of quality education and the Assembly has stepped up efforts to create a conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning.

He disclosed that over 1,000 furniture sets will be procured before the end of the year and distributed equitably to schools every three months.

He added that furniture supply will continue for years to end the challenge in schools and announced upcoming projects, including a 20-seater toilet facility at KSHTS and dining halls at Serwaa Nyarko Girls’ SHS and Islamic SHS.

He urged students to learn hard to justify the investment and make their families and the city proud.

Ms. Judith Mensah Bamford of the Metro Education Directorate thanked KMA for its continuous support and called for more assistance to both basic and senior high schools.

Ms. Rita Nti Acheampong of Prince of Peace SHS also expressed appreciation and promised that beneficiary schools will maintain the furniture for thousands of students to benefit.
