“Don’t Call Our Communicators Leading Members, Use Right Descriptions”—-
COKA Urges Media Practitioners
Odeneho Kwaku Appiah (popularly known as Chairman COKA), the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called on radio show producers and news reporters to exercise greater accuracy when designating party members and communicators on air.
Speaking during a courtesy visit from journalists and radio producers in Kumasi, Chairman COKA expressed concern over the frequent mislabeling of junior party members as “leading figures” or “leading members.”
“I am often surprised when show producers and hosts introduce up-and-coming communicators as leading members of the NPP, when they have not yet attained that status or stature within the party structure,” Chairman COKA noted.
He urged media professionals to properly identify party representatives by their exact titles and official roles to maintain reporting accuracy.
In response, Nana Agyenim Boateng “Kokooto,” a reporter with Otec FM, expressed gratitude for the reception and appealed to the Chairman to maintain an open-door policy with the media throughout his tenure.
Commitment to PWDs:
During a separate courtesy call with a delegation of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), Chairman COKA reaffirmed his commitment to prioritizing their welfare and ensuring accessible party operations.
He pledged to facilitate environmentally friendly and accessible meeting spaces to ease their mobility and party participation.
Addressing the delegation, the Chairman encouraged members to remain active advocates within the region.
“I urge you to help mobilize your peers into the NPP fold so that together, we can secure a decisive victory across the Ashanti Region in the upcoming 2028 general elections”, Chairman COKA emphasized.
Persons With Disabilities (PWDs):
A former Sekyere Central Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) popularly known as “Pozo”, commended Chairman COKA for his inclusive leadership approach and willingness to engage all party wings.
Highlighting past party support, including the distribution of wheelchairs and mobility aids during the Akufo-Addo administration, Pozo pledged his team’s full support to rally PWD voters across the constituencies.
