In a major show of internal solidarity, Member of Parliament for Trobu, Hon. Gloria Owusu, has endorsed the incumbent General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua (popularly known as JFK), for a second term.

Characterizing him as a wise, mature, and unifying leader, Owusu urged party delegates to rally behind Kodua at the upcoming NPP National Delegates Conference scheduled for October 3 in Kumasi.

Maturity:

Addressing constituency executives from Trobu, Okaikwei South, Okaikwei North, and Okaikwei Central during Kodua’s recent campaign swing through the Greater Accra Region, Owusu offered a candid reflection on her past political interactions with the party’s chief scribe.

She disclosed that although she did not support Kodua during his initial and ultimately successful 2022 bid for the General Secretary position against former executive John Boadu, Kodua never allowed their past political differences to strain their relationship.

Rather than retaliating or undermining her Parliamentary campaign in 2024, Kodua offered steadfast backing, demonstrating his commitment to put the broader interests of the party above personal grievances.

“I have come to the realization that JFK is full of wisdom. We must maintain him as General Secretary,” Owusu declared to delegates.

Cohesion and Governance:

Beyond internal administrative duties, Owusu highlighted Kodua’s decisive management style and accessibility to the party’s Parliamentary Caucus.

She noted that his consistent engagement with MPs has been vital in fostering unity, coordination, and alignment across party lines, qualities essential for an effective opposition or ruling caucus.

Describing Kodua as an assertive administrator and an exceptionally committed team player, Owusu urged delegates to look past personal interests and vote based on proven character, capacity, and results.
