Drug Lords nabbed with gun, cocaine, wee

A SUCCESSFUL intelligence-led police operation has led to the arrest of four key suspected illicit drug dealers in some selected known ghettos at Kunsu in the Ashanti region.

The suspects, who were nabbed during Friday, June 26, 2026 operation, have been identified as Issaka Musah, 22, Amankwah Emmanuel, 25, Kwame Boateng, 32, and Appiah Prince, 23.

The security agents, during the operations, managed to retrieve a locally manufactured pistol, dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp, a white powdery substances believed to be Cocaine and other items.

In a press statement, confirming the arrests, DSP Godwin Ahianyo, of the Ashanti Regional Police Public Affairs Unit, said the exercise was meant to get rid of illicit drugs sale and usage in Kunsu.

“The Mankranso District Police Command has arrested four suspected drug peddlers during an intelligence-led operation conducted at identified locations within Kunsu Township in the Ashanti Region.

“The operation, which took place in the early hours of Friday, 26th June 2026, forms part of the Police Service’s sustained efforts to clamp down on the trafficking and peddling of illicit drugs and other related criminal activities within the district”.

DSP Ahianyo announced that “Items recovered from the suspects include one locally manufactured pistol loaded with two BB rounds of ammunition, quantities of suspected Tramadol and red capsules.

“Dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, a whitish powdery substance wrapped in paper suspected to be cocaine, and an amount of GH¢5,647.40, believed to be proceeds from the alleged illicit trade”.

During preliminary investigations, he stated that all the suspects allegedly admitted ownership of the recovered exhibits, adding that the suspects have since been kept in police custody with the exhibits.

“They are currently in police custody assisting with investigations and will be put before the court upon the conclusion of investigations”, he said, urging the public to support the police to arrest criminals.

“We urge members of the public to continue supporting the police by providing timely and credible information to help identify and apprehend individuals engaged in criminal activities.

“The Ghana Police Service remains resolute in its fight against drug-related offenses and organized crime”, DSP Ahianyo confidently assured the general public.
