ONE OF Ghana’s responsible and respected mining companies, E.K. Agyeman Mining GROUP last week donated farm equipment and products valued at several thousands of cedis to the Atwima Mponua District Assembly.
The gesture was to enable the District Assembly to reward hard working farmers in the area who were up for awards at the area’s version of the Farmer’s Day celebration.
Presenting the items which consisted of knapsack spraying machines as well fertilizer pumping guns and others, Nana Yaw Brempong and Isaac Aidoo, representatives of E.K. Agyeman Mining Group said the company sees the gesture as a responsibility.
Mr Brempong said the group believes in giving back to districts and areas they mine or conduct their activities.
Commitment:
E.K. Agyeman Mining Group, the representative noted, believes in partnering with various stakeholders in communities they mine to develop same.
The company, Mr Brempong stressed takes its corporate social responsibility programs serious.
He stated that the Group and its Chief Executive Officer, Mr E.K Agyeman is committed to using resources they generate to support development initiatives of communities they work at.
“As a Mining group we have a mindset that we are development partners so we are committed to using resources we generate from our work to help develop the communities we carry out our operations”, Mr Brempong stated.
Appreciation:
Receiving the items on behalf of the District Assembly, Hon Isaac Kofi Marfo, District Chief Executive (DCE) of Atwima MPONUA expressed appreciation to the Mining Company.
He noted that the district was grateful for the gesture since the products would enable the Assembly to properly reward its farmers who would be up for awards.
Mr Marfo encouraged other companies operating in the district to emulate the gesture by E.K Agyeman Mining Group.
“We see companies and other institutions operating at Atwima Mponua as partners in development and so we urge that they see us as same and continually show support to us any time we undertake any venture aimed at empowering the people”, the DCE appealed.
