The Ghanaian government is structuring a financial intervention through the Ministry of Finance to secure investors and resolve capital shortages crippling the Boankra Integrated and Logistics Terminal (BILT), confirmed Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene during a joint inspection with the Ashanti Regional Security Council (REGSEC).
Although originally planned as a non-state funded initiative, direct government action is now deemed crucial to protect existing investments and ensure the facility reaches completion.
Lead contractor Justmoh Construction Limited has maintained steady progress despite persistent cash-flow bottlenecks, bringing Phase One to roughly 65% completion.
Commercial operations are slated to commence immediately following the release of Phase One, with Phase Two development starting right after core infrastructure is established.
Project stakeholders have voiced strong backing for the state’s intervention:
Dr. Justice Amoh (CEO, Justmoh Construction Limited) cited funding delays as the main operational constraint on-site.
Prof. Ransford Edward Gyampo (CEO, Ghana Shippers Authority) stated that activity will ramp up quickly once capital flow is stabilized.
Once fully operational, the terminal will serve as a vital economic engine for Ghana’s central belt, streamlining transit trade and accelerating freight movement to and from coastal ports.
