CALAMITY STUCK at the Brewery Traffic Light in the Asokwa Constituency in Kumasi on Monday morning when a female trader was sadly trapped and killed by a Forklift.

The deceased, identified only as Jennifer, a pawpaw seller, was hawking along the Ahinsan-Atonsu highway when the forklift, a powered industrial truck, suddenly lost its break and killed her.

Eyewitnesses reports indicated that the traffic had turned green so the traders had left the road and they were standing on the pavement waiting for the light to turn green for them to trade again.

Jennifer and one other woman, who was also selling her products, noticed that the Forklift was heading towards their place at top speed so they took to their heels to help save their lives.

The other trader, who is named as Ama Sefa, managed to ran from harm’s path, but unfortunately for Jennifer she was not fast enough as she was heartbreakingly trapped and killed by the forklift.

According to other reports, the heavy forklift dragged Jennifer on the road for some few meters before it eventually stopped. Bystanders then rushed there to rescue Jennifer but she was already dead.

People in the hitherto peaceful community and traders who were hawking along the busy road on the day, rushed to the accident scene and they were seen shedding uncontrollable tears.

The tragic accident temporarily caused massive vehicular traffic on the Ahinsan to Atonsu highway before the forklift was towed from the road. Jennifer’s body had been placed in the morgue.
