Most of the policemen would be stationed at the venue of the polls, while some of them would provide security at the various hostels and facilities where the delegates will stay.

Dr. Francis Adomako aka ‘Francois’, the Ashanti Regional NPP Secretary, who made the disclosure to Press1News, stated that all is set for the big event to take place.

“Everything, especially logistics, have been provided at the venue for the party programme to take place on Saturday. Definitely, the event will be grand and highly successful.

“We have been told by the police hierarchy that 3,000 policemen would be dispatched to provide security so as to make our impending national executives polls peaceful”.

According to him, the party has decided to rely solely on the Ghana Police Service to take charge of the security of the event, urging the party members and supporters to take note.

Cautions Troublemakers

Francois therefore sternly cautioned anyone or group who are planning to cause troubles at the election venue to quickly change their minds in order to stay away from the law.

According to him, anybody that will be apprehended for trying to cause trouble to disrupt the election would be dealt with according to the laws of Ghana by the security agents.

No Entry For Non-Accredited Members

He also stated that as part of the security measures taken, only accredited people would be permitted to enter the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, saying “no accreditation, no entry”.

About 7,000 Voters

The Ashanti Regional NPP Scribe also indicated that about 7,000 NPP delegates, drawn from all the 16 regions in the country, wil be exercising their franchise during the polls.

He said the first part of the programme, which will commence at exactly 9am on Saturday, will be used purposely for NPP constitutional amendment, which will be followed by voting.

“Voting will start 12 noon on Saturday and the delegates would be voting for the various candidates, who are contesting for nine national executive positions in the party.

“All the delegates qualify to vote in the National chairman, Vice chairman, General secretary, National organizer, National treasurer and National communications director elections.

“But there will be no election in the National communications position as only one candidate, Miracles Aboagye, picked forms for that position”, Dr. Adomako informed the paper.

He explained that in the National Youth organizer election, all party delegates forming the Electoral College, who are less than 40 years, will have the right to vote in that election.

Dr. Adomako also stated that in the NASARA Coordinator elections, only the NASARA coordinators will vote, noting that
all females delegates will vote in the Women Organizer polls.
