ASHANTI REGIONAL Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has expressed his great desire to see ‘NkrumahFest’ being hosted in the Ashanti region in the near future.

The festival is used to celebration of the life, legacy and vision of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the first president of Ghana, who led the country to attain independence in 1957.

Dr. Amoakohene was in Nkroful in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region, the ancestral birthplace and hometown of Dr. Nkrumah, to take part of the 2026 edition of the event.

The Ashanti Region Minister, who was impressed about what he witnessed, announced his intentions to liaise with the organizers so his region can host the event in the near future.

“NkrumahFest 2026 is taking place in Nkroful, the ancestral birthplace and hometown of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, located in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region of Ghana.

“I further announced my commitment to working with the organisers and the Nkrumah family to bring one of the future editions of NkrumahFest to the Ashanti Region”, he wrote.

Dr. Amoakohene, in a Facebook post, described Dr. Nkrumah as a great and visionary leader, whose extraordinary works in the past are still relevant and needed to transform the country.

He stressed on the need of “preserving Nkrumah’s ideas, particularly his commitment to Ghana’s development, African unity, self-determination and the empowerment of future generations”.

Dr. Amoakohene was thrilled about Dr. Nkrumah’s great works for the country, saying “We must continue to tell our history and make the Nkrumah story accessible to the next generation”.

He reiterated his heart desire of working assiduously to host NkrumahFest in Ashanti region, noting that “The Golden Region is ready to welcome this important national celebration”.
