The Ashanti Business Owners Association (ABOA) has donated GH¢200,000 to assist the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) with its initiative to move the Kumasi Central Police Station into a temporary facility, making way for a new ultra-modern complex to be built.

The relocation has become necessary as KMA intends to build a more spacious and befitting police station for the city.

According to the assembly, GH¢750,000 is needed to put up the temporary structure. With the latest support from ABOA, total funds mobilized so far now stand at GH¢410,000.

The donation was made on Friday, September 25, 2026, when the Executive Secretary of ABOA, Mr. Charles Appiah-Kubi presented a dummy cheque on behalf of the Association to the Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Richard Ofori Agyeman Boadi.

Mr. Appiah-Kubi noted that the donation was part of the Association’s commitment to enhancing security in Kumasi and beyond.

Hon. Richard Ofori Agyeman Boadi, upon receiving the cheque, expressed appreciation to ABOA for its consistent contributions to the development of Kumasi and called on other organizations and individuals to follow suit.

The Mayor further disclosed that the government has earmarked GH¢4.8 million for the construction of a purpose-built Central Police Station complex and assured that work will commence as soon as the temporary station becomes operational.

On his part, the Deputy Ashanti Regional Police Commander, ACP Francis Kouame Somian, commended the Mayor and the KMA for the laudable initiative aimed at promoting effective policing, and appealed to the general public to support the project.
