You’re destroying livelihoods with Dumsor—Francis Adomako jabs Mahama

Less than 1 minute Minutes

The Ashanti Regional Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Francis Adomako, has launched a scathing critique against the Mahama administration, accusing the government of destroying livelihoods through the persistent power outages popularly known as “Dumsor.”

Speaking to the media ahead of the maiden NPP Football Gala at the Serwaah Nyarko School Park in Manhyia South, Mr. Adomako lamented the devastating impact of the energy crisis on both professionals and artisans across the country.

Threat:

Following a tour of several communities in Kumasi including Asafo, Bantama, and Adum, Mr. Adomako noted that businesses reliant on electricity are under immense pressure.

“I was moved to tears at the Asafo market, witnessing cold store operators discard spoiled fish. Meanwhile, barbers and steel benders in other communities sit idle with folded arms, waiting indefinitely for power to be restored so they can earn a living,” Mr. Adomako narrated.

Beyond the economic toll, the NPP Organiser highlighted the crisis’s impact on the education sector.

As an educationist, he expressed grave concern for students preparing for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

He argued that students are unable to study effectively during evening prep periods due to the blackouts.

“The blame for any poor academic performance in the upcoming exams should be laid squarely at the doorstep of the Mahama administration,” he stated.

Party Unity:

Shifting focus to the May Day Gala Games scheduled for Friday, Mr. Adomako explained that the competitive yet friendly tournament is designed to consolidate the NPP’s united front in the Ashanti Region.

The event will bring together various wings of the party, including:

Current and former Government Appointees

Former Members of Parliament and MMDCEs

Identifiable groups and the tertiary wing (TESCON)

“This is an opportunity for us to fraternize and showcase the camaraderie that defines the NPP in this region,” Adomako added.
