This day, which occurs every 40 days, is significantly celebrated across the Asante Kingdom to honor their gods and ancestors.

While celebrating Awukudae across the Asante Kingdom, several hundred people are expected to queue to shake hands with the King and wish him a belated happy birthday.

Yesterday, the Asantehemaa, clad in rich white kente cloth, visited Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at his residence to wish him a happy birthday and presented gifts to her beloved son, in accordance with their tradition and customs.

Present was the King’s wife, Lady Julia.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who succeeded his late brother, Otumfuo Opoku Ware II in April 1999, has reigned for 26 years.
