The outgoing Chieftaincy and Religious Minister, Hon Stephen Asamoah Boateng has urged members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to use decent language to vent out their feelings and disappointments occasioned by its defeat at the December 7 polls.
Speaking to this reporter, Hon Boateng who is a leading member of the NPP conceded that the December 7 election defeat was very disheartening.
However, he encouraged all grieving party members to have the unity of the party in mind when expressing their frustrations.
“I understand the frustrations and disappointments of NPP members about our defeat but what i would plead they do is to express same with decent language and in manners that would engender unity in the end”, Hon Asabee stated.
Measures:
The Minister noted that the NPP would conduct a research into the defeat and seek to unravel the reasons for same.
This, he noted would help the party to ascertain the very reasons behind its bad showing at the polls.
Hon Boateng admitted that every constituency would have its peculiar issues that may have occasioned the party’s poor results across the country, and hinted of a case by case approach.
“It is difficult to deal with defeat but what we in the NPP do so well is that we find reasons for unfortunate happenings and we take introspection into same so that we do not repeat same mistakes again”, the Minister posited.
Remedial Actions:
The Minister assured members that the party after a careful examination of the causes of its defeat will meet together to discuss the ensuing issues including remedial measures.
He explained that the party would then deliberate on how to fashion ways to remedy the issues so as to forestall a future occurrence.
Encouragement:
The NPP, the Minister argued has faced many electoral defeats but after a careful scrutiny of its mistakes have always bounced back to win the following elections including the 2000 and 2016 elections.
He noted that these feats had been chalked when the NDC felt and thought they had firm control of the country as government.
