Mr Pyne, through his lawyers, is seeking a perpetual injunction restraining the defendants and their agents from further publication of the said defamatory words.

He is further asking for a retraction of the said publication and issue an unqualified apology in equal prominence as given to the defamatory statement and prayed the court to award any other damages that it may deem fit including his legal fees.

Claims:

According to the statement of claims in a writ of summons filed by the lawyers of the plaintiff, on February 18, 20225, the second defendant, Ekow Darkoh, a co-host of the Onua Maakye Morning Show, made some disparaging statements about the plaintiff describing him as a criminal who has connived with the Regional Minister to sell state lands in the Kumasi Metropolis while serving as MCE.

It is the case of the plaintiff that these statements were made on a live programme and later published on various social platforms.

These statements which the plaintiff claimed were false, have affected him and has brought his image into disrepute in the eyes of well meaning Ghanaians and was therefore praying the court for the reliefs sought in the application.
