KUMASI MAYOR, Samuel Pyne, has refuted the narrative that the current Akufo-Addo led NPP government has done little or close to nothing for the Ashanti Region.
He noted that it is a misconception which should be treated with the contempt it deserves.
It could be recalled that in recent times some aggrieved grassroots members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region and Members of Parliament (MPs) have accused their leadership of neglect.
Some memberes of the public have similarly accused the government and Ashanti MPs for failing to fulfill promises made to them.
Background:
Recently, youth in the Kwabre East District threatened to vote against the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) if their roads were not fixed.
Addressing a press conference last Tuesday morning, Amaning Kwarteng, Spokesperson and Unit Committee Chairman for the Antoa Electoral area said the entire Kwabre East has been neglected by the NPP government.
Rebuttal:
But speaking to Silver Fm’s Morning Show Host, Nana Kwasi Sarpong Kumankuma, the Mayor of Kumasi said it was an overkill to describe roads deficit as neglect.
He noted that in terms of road infrastructure some remained undone in the region but pointed out several infrastructural developments completed or being undertaken by the current government.
The Mayor used the medium to assure residents in Kumasi of massive transformation in the months ahead.
“I want to take this opportunity to appeal to supporters and sympathizers of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to spread good message of the government than inciting the swing voters against the government”, Hon Pyne stressed.
