THE POLICE are on the heels of six suspected highway robbers who attacked and robbed dozens of passengers in five different cars on Wednesday around 7pm.
The hoodlums, surprisingly, blocked the Tenkorang Junction road on the main Kumasi-Sunyani highway, in the Ahafo Ano South-East District of the Ashanti Region.
Wielding sophisticated guns and other weapons, the runaway robbers, who had a field’s day, then subjected their victims, mainly women, to a thorough search.
The robbers, who were wearing mask to cover their faces, at gun-point, forcibly snatched mobile phones, money and other items from their helpless victims and fled.
Luckily, the heavily-armed robbers did not harm any of their victims. When police arrived at the crime scene, the hoodlums had fled on foot through a nearby bush.
Meanwhile, Press1News is learning that the Tenkorang Junction, where the robbery took place, is located in-between Nimfourkrom and Aburaso, a known robbery-prone area.
The Mankranso District Police Command is doing everything possible to arrest the six suspected highway robbers to face the law.
