IT HAS emerged that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) rated former President John Mahama ahead of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first president, in terms of achievements in political office in 2022.
The current National Organizer of the opposition NDC, Joseph Yammin, who is an outspoken politician, made the comparison when he was addressing TEIN students and it was published by ‘mynewsgh.com’ an online portal on Wednesday, April 27, 2022.
The publication was captioned ‘John Mahama greater than Kwame Nkrumah in achievements-Yammin’. The story was published with the picture of Yammin, who was then campaigning to become the NDC National Organizer.
In the story, Yammin without mincing words, stated emphatically that former President John Mahama’s positive achievements in just FOUR YEARS in political office was far better than Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and the CPP government.
NDCs Hypocrisy
Interestingly, no NDC member or the so-called staunched supporters of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah in the country took offense to Yammin’s claim that Mahama achieved more in FOUR YEARS than Dr. Nkrumah’s entire reign in political office.
However, these same people are now tearing Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh aka ‘Napo’, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Vice Presidential Candidate apart for saying that President Nana Akufo-Addo’s achievements in eight years is better than that of Dr. Nkrumah.
Napo, who was speaking after being unveiled as the NPP vice presidential candidate at the Jubilee Park in Kumasi on Tuesday, made the harmless statement without attacking the personality of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
According to him, Dr. Nkrumah is touted as the best president in terms of achievements but he believes that President Akufo-Addo has worked tirelessly to become the best president in the country’s history in terms of achievements.
Nana’s Achievements Explained
Significantly, Napo did not just make a sweeping statement as he carefully took his time and highlighted President Akufo-Addo’s achievements in the areas of infrastructure, roads, education, health, water and sanitation, among others.
He afterwards said based on the facts that he has provided
he was convinced that President Akufo-Addo has achieved more in political office as president for two terms than all his predecessors, including ex-President Dr. Nkrumah.
At no point did Napo insulted or attacked the personality of Dr. Nkrumah, but the NDC and their rented press have published false stories with an erroneous impression that Napo had attacked Dr. Nkrumah, which is palpable false.
