THE ASANTE Kingdom welcomed back its revered spiritual leader, His Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, back home on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, following a private visit abroad.
The King’s arrival at the sublime-looking the ‘Prempeh I International Airport’ in Kumasi was marked by a warm reception from prominent traditional leaders in Kumasi other parts of the Asante Kingdom.
Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, former MP for Manhyia South, Kumasi Mayor Richard Ofori-Agyeman Boadi, and Ashanti Regional Police Commander DCOP Emmanuel Teye Cudjoe were among the dignitaries at the airport to welcome the King.
It was a beautiful scene as scores of traditional leaders also lined up to exchange pleasantries with Otumfuo, demonstrating the deep respect and admiration they have for the highly-respected Asante monarch.
After the warm welcome, Otumfuo, in a convoy of flashy cars, proceeded to the Manhyia Palace, the epicenter of the Asante Kingdom’s rich cultural heritage, where he was also met with a rousing welcome.
The King’s return is very significant, as it’s expected to bring renewed energy and purpose to the famous Kingdom, and potentially mark an end to the Bawku conflict, in the northern part of Ghana.
