President John Dramani Mahama has launched the flagship “Adwumawura” Programme, designed to address youth unemployment and promote entrepreneurship in Ghana.
Launching the initiative at the Prempeh Assembly Hall in Kumasi on Monday, April 28, 2025, the President stated that it aims to support 10,000 youth aged 18-35 annually.
The “Adwumawura” Programme provides comprehensive support to young entrepreneurs, including skills training, mentorship, access to start-up capital, and equipment.
This initiative will enable energetic youth to secure decent jobs and contribute meaningfully to the country’s economic growth.
The President announced that GH₵100 million from the 2025 Budget has been allocated to kick-start the Programme.
Odeneho Okyere Kusi Ntrama, Essumejahene, who represented Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the launch, thanked the President and the government for their efforts to address unemployment.
The launch was attended by prominent National Democratic Congress figures, including National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia, Minister for Labour, Jobs, and Employment, Dr. Abdul-Rashid Hassan Pelpuo, and national and regional party executives.
Also present were the Mayor of Kumasi, Richard Ofori-Agyeman Boadi, traditional leaders, faith-based leaders, and civil society organization representatives.
