Richard Ofori-Agyeman Boadi, Mayor of Kumasi, has launched the ‘KMA/Bloomberg Philanthropies Youth Climate Action Fund (YCAF) Round 2’, aimed at driving climate solutions in the city of Kumasi.
The YCAF is a $100,000 fund being disbursed to 26 youth groups aged 15-24 in Kumasi to address the climate change challenge.
The fund ranges from $1,000 to $5,000 for the groups to implement their projects over a six-month duration.
At the launch of Phase 2 on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, Ofori-Agyeman Boadi noted that 54 groups presented proposals for addressing the climate change challenge, but 26 with workable innovative ideas were selected.
He extended his heartfelt congratulations to the winners and commended the applicants for their steadfast commitment to effecting positive change in society.
In Phase 1, $50,000 was disbursed among 14 youth groups, comprising about 2,400 youth; therefore, Phase 2, which comprises 26 youth groups, is expected to engage more young people.
