DANIEL ASARE, Acting Chief Enterprise Business Officer for MTN Ghana says the company is still battling with the issue of fibre cuts across the country.
He noted that apart from the illegal activities of thieves, road contractors and drainage workers had been the worst culprits.
In 2022, he noted that 229 cuts occurred on its fibre across the country, adding that other damages on the fibre was 127.
Speaking at the sidelines of an editors forum in the Ashanti Region, Mr Asare said the issue sets back the company in its operations.
Momo Fraud:
On Momo fraud, the MTN official said the issue continues to work against the company with its customers bearing the brunt of same.
Currently, he noted that MTN was in constant touch with the Cyber Crime Unit of the Police as well as other security agencies to track and fish out persons behind the illegal activities.
The Company, he stressed takes the issue seriously and had at several points led information to the Police to enable them to arrest some of the perpetrators for prosecution.
“MTN is seriously tackling the issue of mobile money fraud and has been collaborating with relevant security agencies especially the cyber crime unit of the Police Administration to deal with the crime but the best remedy is to keep our pin codes to ourselves without divulging it to anyone else”, Mr Asare stated.
Network Challenges:
MTN, the Enterprise Business Officer said has committed 210 million dollars to network expansions.
The company, he also noted was rolling out 350 new cell sites.
Additionally, rural telephony expansions as well as network upgrades on its 2 and 3G sites in these communities was being pursued, the Officer dislosed.
“We are bent on giving our customers across the country the best of services on the network hence the infusion of 210 million dollars to carry out upgrades and expansions”, Mr Asare stressed.
