Story:
ASSEMBLIES OF God-Ghana under its Young Women Auxiliary Wing popularly called Young Singles (YS) on Thursday climaxed an Evangelism Drive and Registration of about 1, 500 persons including children and the aged at Yabi, a popular town in the Ashanti Region.
The wing also facilitated a medical screening for the people of the town as well as others who came from the adjoining communities.
This gesture by the Women’s Wing, according to Pastor Mrs Esther Oduro Dwomo, the national organizer, comes ahead of its upcoming national camp for 2023.
She noted that the camp meeting has been slated for the 4th to the 7th day of October at the Business School of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) where the General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Church as well as the Women’s Wing Leader are billed to speak.
‘’As a prelude to our upcoming camp meeting the church through its Young Singles Group decided to spend about GHC 30, 000.00 to register about 1, 500 persons in the Yabi community as well as carry out evangelism to the people within and those in the adjoining towns such as Akyeremade, Akosomo and three others’’, Pastor Dwomo intimated.
Activities:
The National Organizer noted that the YS Group was a committed outfit within the Women’s Wing of the Assemblies of God which gives counsel to young and single ladies in the church to love the Lord and serve him well.
The group she added also does charity and volunteer outreaches to slums and deprived communities across the country.
”We are a committed group under the Women’s Wing of our church and our aim is to teach and mentor young single ladies to love the Lord and live well so they can become impactful vessels”, the national organizer stated.
Local Pastor:
Speaking to the media, Pastor Michael Asempa commended the YS group for the gesture and the commitment to lead others to Christ Jesus.
He noted that the Yabi community was a deprived one with many economic as well as social challenges, adding that the people will never forget what the AG women had done.
‘’We are grateful to YS group for this noble gesture and I am hopeful this would touch the hearts of many in this community to turn to Christ and begin fellowship with us from this Sunday’’, the Preacher said.
Assemblyman:
Hon Joseph Osei-Tutu, Assembly man for the Atwima Yabi Electoral Area thanked the Assemblies of God church for the gesture.
He noted the outreach has been very beneficial to his area, adding that many were not registered on the National Health Insurance Scheme.
He said many had been resorting to unconventional ways to treat illnesses anytime they were sick.
‘’I am happy that Assemblies of God has come to our aid and registered so many people on the health insurance scheme aside the preaching of the word of God to them and I am grateful to them”, the Assemblyman stated.
