In between the first and the last events, the Manhyia Palace, the official seat of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has planned series of historical activities to make the Odwira festival grand and memorable.

These include a mini ‘Akwasidae festival on November 9; display by traditional fetish priests in Asanteman on November 19, and a grand durbar to honour people who have served Asanteman well on November 22.

Also, as part of the activities, the Asantehene will visit Bampenase, Asokore Mampong and Subinso to perform some sacrifices on November 23. November 24-25 has been dedicated to the Bosommuru Sword.

Otumfuo, who is the 16th occupant of the sacred Golden Stool, will visit Esereso for consecration on November 26, and the Sumankwahene of Otumfuo will host Suman-goro ceremony on November 28.

The one-month long rich cultural and traditional festival will be climaxed with a grand ‘Akwasidae’ festival, which will see Otumfuo sitting in state for people from all walks of life to pay homage to him.

Significantly, last time Asanteman organized an Odwira festival was in 1961 (64 years ago) when the 14th occupant of the Golden Stool, Otumfuo Sir Osei Agyeman Prempeh II, was the then Asantehene.
