This October is being observed as Breast Cancer Awareness month and one of the regular activities every year is the annual Hats and Hearts fundraiser organised by Safe Haven Cancer Support Centre.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the organisation and the 5th anniversary of the fundraising event.
This year, the event will take place on October 21, 2023, at Calvary Baptist Church in Shiashie, East Legon.
Safe Haven Cancer Support Centre was founded by Janet Brakohiapa and her brother Dr. Edmund Brakohiapa after Janet’s successful battle with cancer.
Details:
The organization aims to provide cancer awareness, support, and education to those in Ghana.
The theme for this year is “No Stigma! Encourage Survivors to tell their story. Start screening at 20 years. Remember, early detection saves lives!”
The organization highlights the importance of educating young women about breast cancer, as recent statistics show an increase in diagnoses among this age group.
Safe Haven Cancer Support Centre is also available for information and education sessions for groups.
Invitation:
They invite students and staff to attend the event and would be grateful for the opportunity to speak about the importance of early detection, diagnosis, and treatment of breast cancer to save lives.
