In a solemn ceremony held last Sunday at the Calvary Charismatic Center (CCC) headquarters in Ayigya, Reverend Ransford Obeng, Founder and General Overseer of CCC, was officially sworn in as the Chairman of the Ashanti Regional Oversight Committee for the Bible Society of Ghana (BSG).
The oath of office was administered by Rt. Rev. Dr. Daniel Sylvanus Torto of the Anglican Church of Ghana.
Also sworn in during the ceremony was Dr. Emily, who joins the committee to support the society’s mission in the region.
Mandate for Biblical Literacy:
Addressing the newly inducted leaders, Rt. Rev. Dr. Torto emphasized the core mission of their mandate which is to ensure that the Bible is accessible and affordable to every resident of the Ashanti Region.
“I charge you to live up to your commitment and passion to make the Bible visible, readable, and affordable for all,” Dr. Torto remarked.
Very Reverend Dr. John Kwesi Addo Jnr, General Secretary of the BSG, expressed profound gratitude to the duo for accepting the four-year leadership term.
He noted that the term is eligible for renewal based on performance and alignment with the Governing Council’s expectations.
Track Record:
Dr. Addo Jnr highlighted Rev. Obeng’s distinguished career as a primary reason for his appointment:
Decades of Service:
Nearly 50 years of ministry focused on teaching and applying Biblical principles.
Proven Commitment:
A lifelong passion for scripture that aligns with the BSG’s vision.
Strategic Leadership:
Confidence that his influence will help the BSG achieve its four-year targets.
Vision and Call to Action:
In his inaugural address to the congregation, Rev. Ransford Obeng admitted that he initially hesitated to accept the role due to his demanding schedule.
However, he ultimately felt a spiritual obligation to lead, given his half-century of walking by the Word.
His primary goals for his tenure include:
Community Outreach:
Introducing Bible study and ownership to homes across all Ashanti communities.
Digital Innovation:
Supporting the BSG project to translate the Bible into a video-based application.
This initiative aims to assist the hearing-impaired community in accessing and understanding the scriptures.
Rev. Obeng concluded by calling for both spiritual and material support from the public.
“I urge you to support us with your prayers and your donations,” he stated, “especially toward our projects that ensure the Word of God reaches those with hearing impairments.”
