In an unprecedented move, Four Labour Unions at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) have pledged their unflinching support to the hospital’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Professor Otchere Addai-Mensah.
The unions described the CEO as firm, focused, results oriented and development minded person.
Furthermore, the Unions stressed that the appointment of Professor Addai-Mensah is one of the best decisions the President of the Republic has extended to the hospital and the people of Ashanti.
In a release copied to the Ghanaian Observer Newspaper last Thursday, the unions consisting of Komfo Anokye Doctors Association (KADA), Hospital Service Workers Union (HSWU), Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) and the Komfo Anokye Pharmacists Association (KAPA) said allegations by the hospital’s former employee in a petition to the President is without basis or merit since the CEO has without fail adhered to transparent and open administrative procedures in his activties and operations at KATH.
According to the groups, the allegations by Lawyer Kwame Adofo on the CEO do not define the character and dedication to the well-being of KATH.
Details:
Speaking to this reporter later, Dr Michael Leat, Chairman of the Komfo Anokye Doctors Association (KADA) said the members of the Unions having encountered Professor Otchere Addai-Mensah are witnesses to his unquestionable character and work ethic.
The KATH CEO, Dr Leat said have since engaged with staff and brainstormed with them as to every new policy or directive management intended to roll out or implement.
He noted that Professor Addai-Mensah has by his appointment revived activism and industry of all working groups, unions including security men at the hospital to offer the best of services to patients, customers and visitors.
“All the allegations carried in the petition of Lawyer Kwame Adofo to the President was in no way the character or person of Professor Addai-Mensah and we are witnesses to the phenomenal development and human centered initiatives he has so far implemented since becoming CEO of KATH”.
Resistance:
Dr Leat on behalf of the Unions served notice that they will not countenance the distractive and devilish attitudes of faceless persons whose preoccupation is to dabble in things that would frustate the work of the CEO.
The unions, he noted would come with full force and treat such negative minded persons with actions that would be meet of their devilish intents.
