INVESTIGATIONS TO prove the veracity or otherwise of power theft allegations at Wontumi TV/Radio, will come to an end today, Wednesday, June 8.
The Ashanti Regional Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) with support from security agencies, commenced investigations into the wild allegations some days ago.
According to the ECG, even though there are suspicions that the media organization had indulged in power theft, it was too early to jump into conclusions.
Ing David Asamoah, the ECG Ashanti Regional Boss, has said investigations into the case had been ongoing for some days now and it will end today.
āWontumi TV/Radio yes, we are investigating them over suspicious power theft caseā, Ing Boadi Asamoah reacted to a question posed to him on Akoma fm. It was monitored by Press1News.
āEarlier checks is pointing to the fact that they have done illegal connection there but we are investigating the case and by Wednesday we shall do a final lap of investigationsā.
Ing Boadi Asamoah told Kofi Asante Ennin of Akoma fm that if it is proven that indeed Wontumi TV/fm have indulged in power theft ādefinitely we shall crack the whipā.
Wontumi TV/fm has been in the news for bad reasons lately, with rumours that the station was operating from illegal power sources to the detriment of the state.
There were even reports that the ECG cut power supply to the station after learning about the alleged power theft. Meanwhile, the station is in operations now.
