They reaffirmed their commitment to pay reasonable rates to drive the development of Kumasi and shared useful suggestions, which were noted by Budget Officials of the Assembly.

The Principal Budget Analyst, Mr. Eric Nunoo presented a comprehensive list of rateable items and their proposed fees for 2027.

He explained that the exercise was critical, as most of the rates are being reviewed for the first time in five years, and urged ratepayers to cooperate with the assembly.

Mr. Nunoo added that a few new items had been introduced into the revenue list.

He assured participants that the proposals would be forwarded to the Revenue Sub-Committee and other relevant committees for deliberation before final approval by the General Assembly.

In an address delivered on behalf of the Mayor of Kumasi, the Metro Budget Analyst, Mr. Jones Kani commended stakeholders for honouring the invitation.

He noted that the Fee Fixing Resolution meeting is in compliance with the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936), which mandates the assembly to seek stakeholder input before fixing rates and fees.

He added that all inputs and concerns raised would be transmitted to the appropriate committees for consideration ahead of final approval.

For his part, the Presiding Member of KMA, Hon. Patrick Kwame Frimpong expressed appreciation for the active participation and concerns raised.

He assured participants that the best interest of the people and the Assembly would be upheld during deliberations at the General Assembly.

The Chief Linguist of Asemhene, Nana Opoku Agyemang, who chaired the meeting, thanked the city authorities for convening the forum.

He expressed optimism that the contributions made by participants would be duly considered.
