MTN Marks 13 Years Of Momo In Ghana-Lines Up Series Of Activities To Celebrate Feat

Less than 1 minute Minutes

TELECOMMUNICATION GIANT, MTN-Ghana is celebrating 13 years since the introduction of its money transaction platform popularly called mobile money (MOMO).

As part of this celebration  the company has lined up a series of activities including mobile money promotions, activations and sensitization across the country.

This week, the celebration is in Accra, Kumasi, Tamale and Mankessim with the Eastern Region taking its turn early next week.

Speaking at the official celebration at the redeveloped Kejetia Market in Kumasi on Wednesday, General Manager of MTN-Northern Business District, Nii Adotey Mingle, commended customers of the company for showing faith in the MOMO platform.

Details:

He noted the mobile money platform has ensured a quick and easy way of transferring money from one point to another.

He noted that apart from the sending and receiving of money, the platform has enabled the payment of fees including school fees, electricity bills and other mandatory payments due the state to be possible and seamless.

The General Manager noted that currently many insurance companies and other banking institutions are on the MOMO application, adding that the partnership would be deepened.

‘’In sum, I would say the introduction of MOMO by MTN has ensured easy access to cash in its light form and thereby eliminating the human element as well as the risk of carrying bulk money to and fro’’, Mr Mingle stated.

SIM Registration:

The GM has however reminded the public to take the ongoing SIM registration seriously since that would soon be the basis of all transactions and dealings in the country.

He also asked customers who are using data platforms that have SIMS embedded including those using MTN Turbonents, routers and MIFI’s to register them as part of the exercise.

Failure to do so, he intimated, would mean that after the expiration date of the registration on September 30 they would receive no data services and would not be able to purchase same.

‘’It is surprising that after the extension of the deadline for the registration our offices are deserted but I would entreat all who use anything that requires the use of SIM to take advantage of the extension to do so especially those who use MTN turbonents, routers and others that use data to run’’, the GM reminded.
