Court punishes 6 sanitation offenders in Kumasi

Six deviants have been convicted by the Prempeh Assembly District Court in Kumasi for illegally dumping refuse at Otumfuo Roundabout in Kejetia.

Her Worship Deborah Gyaawa Donkoh presiding over the case on May 11, 2026, found the accused guilty after they pleaded guilty to the sanitation offense.

The convicts are Atta Gyamfi, 55; Manuna Ishawu, 24; Veronica Maako, 31; Mariama Iddrisu, 64; Kwadwo Amuzu, 37; and Ebenezer Atakorah, 25.

The court imposed a fine of 100 penalty units, equal to GHS 1,200.00, on each offender or serve a 10-day jail term instead.

Five of the offenders have since settled the fine.

Ebenezer Atakorah could not pay, and will now serve the 10-day prison sentence.

The Metro Guards of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly ( KMA) arrested the offenders around 5:30 a.m. on May 11 while they were dumping waste illegally at the roundabout.
