YAW OSAFO-Maafo, the Senior Minister and a close friend of President Nana Akufo-Addo, is in hot waters.
The Bantama Youth Association have accused him of clandestinely working against the progress of Asanteman.
Kwame Awuah Nimfuor, the Spokesperson of the group, said the NPP administration has ignored the Ashanti Region.
He said Osafo-Maafo’s public pronouncement is a clear indication that he is behind the NPPs clear snub of Asanteman.
“We suspect Osafo-Maafo has been advising the president to neglect Ashanti Region, where the NPP got more votes.
“His remarks that Asantes did not play any active role in Ghana’s independence struggle buttresses our suspicion”.
He said all developmental projects in Asanteman including the Boankra Inland Port and others have been stalled.
“If the president has a strong anti-Asante agent like Osafo-Maafo as his adviser, what will you expect?”, he quizzed.
“Osafo-Maafo has two weeks to publicly apologize to Asanteman over his claims that we did not play any role in Ghana’s independence struggle, else face our wrath”.
Addressing journalists, Awuah Nimfuor, with a grim face, also descended heavily on all the 47 MPs in Ashanti Region for non-performance.
He said the NPP government’s promise to construct five modern interchanges in the region seems to have become a hoax.
“And our MPs are quiet over this. We are also giving them two weeks to show their contributions to the region’s development.
“If the MPs fail to adhere to our demands, we shall report them to Otumfuo, and also select dedicated Asante youth, who are not affiliated with any party, to contest as MPs in the 47 constituencies in 2024”.
