In a strong show of concern, staff of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) and MediLab Diagnostic Services Limited have embarked on a walk through some principal streets of Kumasi to create awareness of breast cancer.
The exercise forms part of activities lined up by the two institutions to join the rest of the world in marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month, also known as Pink Month.
Personnel from both institutions wore T-shirts inscribed with breast cancer awareness messages, urging the public to take breast care and early detection of the cancer seriously.
The health walk, held on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, started at 10:20 a.m. from the KMA premises at Adum, through the Kejetia Roundabout to the MTN Roundabout and on to the Zoo area and later to the front of the Cultural Centre.
From the front of the Cultural Centre, the procession continued along the Bantama Kokooase road to the Bantama Market, then through the main Bantama street to Gee Roundabout, before ending at the MediLab building.
Accompanied by a brass band, participants sensitized traders, hawkers, transport operators and other sections of the public along the route, using banners, placards, public address system, and distributing flyers.
Participants and members of the public alike embraced the walk, recognizing the need for a collective crusade against breast cancer.
