KENNEDY AGYAPONG, who is aspiring to become the flagbearer for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 general election, has unleashed a bombshell.
He has alleged that he flatly rejected a juicy and tempting financial package to step down for Vice President Dr. Bawumia to lead the NPP as flagbearer for the 2024 polls.
According to him, the package also included he (Kennedy) being made the running mate for Dr. Bawumia for the presidential election, which is slated for December 7, 2024.
The outspoken politician said some leading members of Bawumia Campaign Team, whose names he failed to disclose, approached him with the mouthwatering offer.
Kennedy Agyapong did not disclose the exact amount of money that was offered to him to step down for Alhaji Dr. Bawumia, saying, the offer was too tempting to reject.
Addressing his supporters in Kumasi during a ‘Showdown Walk’ at the Jubilee Park on Saturday, he said the offer was mouthwatering but he rejected it because he loves NPP.
The Assin Central NPP Lawmaker therefore urged the NPP delegates to follow his lead by also voting for the right person to lead the NPP, devoid of monetary influence.
“I have been offered big money to step down for Dr. Bawumia to lead the NPP in the 2024 election but I rejected it because of my love for you, NPP and Ghana
“I know that definitely they would give you money to vote for them. But I’m advising you to take the money but vote for Kennedy Agyapong to lead NPP to break the eight.
“Big men have been begging me to step for Dr. Bawumia and become his Vice President, but I don’t want to be selfish so I have rejected their juicy offer because of you.
“I’m urging you also to reject their money and vote massively for Kennedy Agyapong to lead the NPP and retain political power for the party in 2024”, he stated.
Virtually mocking Team Bawumia, he said he knows the vice president cannot retain power for the NPP so he (Kennedy) would not partner him to disgrace himself.
Kennedy Agyapong also said all the recent credible polls have put him miles ahead of Dr. Bawumia so he is surprised the vice president wants him to step down for him.
“I’m leading every polls. In some of the recent polls, I had 900 and you (Bawumia) got just 6, yet you are telling me to step down for you, it will never happen”, he declared.
According to him, it is an open secret that he (Kennedy) is the only aspirant that can break the eight for the NPP, saying “you can go to the streets and ask the people”.
Kennedy Agyapong stated that he was the obvious choice of Ghanaians to become president in 2024 so the NPP delegates should allow him to lead the party if they want power.
