The Mayor of Kumasi, Hon Samuel Pyne on Wednesday morning handed over a 14 seater institutional toilet facility funded by the World Bank and constructed by Ezra Construction  Limited to school authorities at the J.A Kufuor Senior High School, Sokoban.

The facility consists of seven seater toilets for female and same for male students.

 

 

It also has washrooms for the boys and girls as well as changing rooms for the females including overhead tanks and electricity.

Addressing the school authorities and students as well as other important stakeholders, the Kumasi Mayor asked the school to keep the place tidy at all times.

“I urge you to keep the facility neat and tidy at all times and would also plead that you come up with a good maintenance plan so that the facility can last longer and serve its purpose for especially the students”, the Mayor noted.

Promise:

The Mayor promised to facilitate the continued construction and completion of the 64 unit classroom block at the campus of the school which is at the foundation level.

He noted that as the population of the school continues to grow it was important that additional spaces were provided to enhance teaching and learning at the school.

Circuit Officer:

Madam Margaret Do-Wani, School Improvement Support Officer (SISO) For Adiebeba Circuit who represented the Metro Director of Education praised the Kumasi Mayor and the Assembly for deliberately investing in Education in the Metropolis.

This, she noted was testament to the interests the government and the Assembly have in improving environments where teaching and learning take place.

Headmaster:

Headmaster of the School, Mr Frimpong Boateng showed gratitude to the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly for the facility.

He said the facility would help improve sanitation and hygiene amongst the students.

Mr Boateng promised to ensure the project is maintained to last long for the school.

“We are grateful for this facility and as headmaster i promise to ensure both places are kept tidy at all times as well as  maintained to last longer for us”, the Headmaster assured.

Students:

Showing profuse excitement, the students said the sanitary facility would enhance the comfort they needed on campus.

Bridget Boadi, form two student at the school said most girls struggled to deal comfortably and conveniently with their menstrual issues on campus.

“This new facility fitted with washrooms and changing rooms would grant us the opportunity to deal with our monthly issues very well”, an elated Ms Boadi stated.
