FRANCIS ADOMAKO aka ‘Francois’, the Ashanti Regional Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has charged the youth to use their talents to start or build something for themselves so that they could even employ others who do not have jobs.
Speaking to Press1News, the regional organiser said the days that the youth depended solely on government to provide them with employment avenues were long gone.
He noted that with the announcement that there would be a freeze on public sector employment for the year 2023 presents them with the only option of doing something on their own.
“The stark reality is that government cannot employ every youth who comes out of school or is home seeking for opportunity to work in the formal sector and this brings to the fore that they do something with the talents they have within themselves and pray to secure sponsorship to do it big to even employ others”, Mr Adomako noted.
Adomako said many countries have been able to inculcate the spirit of entrepreneurship in their citizens and that has made them to break through.
He noted that many of the people who brought great ideas and are now household names like KFC, Microsoft, Zoomlion, Asamoah and Yamoah Farms did it on their own.
The regional organiser therefore urged the youth not to shut their minds to ideas that would come through while they think through their options.
“You can do something for yourselves with the talents that you have in you and by creating your models you can also with some support from other state enterprises break through just as Zoomlion and others have done”, Mr Adomako stated.
Adomako has therefore appealed to the National Entrepreneurship and Innovations Programme (NEIP), the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) as well as the Youthstart secretariat to look out for the youth who are determined to do something for themselves and provide support to them.
Many youth, the regional organiser stressed have great ideas and concepts but lack the capital to launch out.
“With the assurance that funding or support such as startup capital could be made available to the youth they would surely bring out the best in them through the ideas they have conceived”, Adomako appealed.
