The Chief of Sabin Akrofrom in the Atwima Kwanwoma District, Nana Osei Kofi, has extended support to brilliant contestants with disabilities who participated in the just-ended 2026 edition of the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Community Reading Challenge (OCRC).
Otumfuo’s Brempong gifted GH¢5,000 and a tablet each to two contestants with disabilities in recognition of their courage and determination, although they could not make it to the grand finale.
The beneficiaries were Angela Appiah from Buokrom and Victoria Kyei of Manso Adubea.
In addition, the Chief rewarded the five finalists of the competition with GH¢2,000 each for their outstanding performance.
He also gifted GH¢5,000 and a tablet to Theresah Mensah, another contestant from Akrofrom, who, despite caring for her incapacitated father, is demonstrating academic prowess and zeal to pursue education.
Speaking to Kwame Awuah Nimfour of Opemsuo Radio at his palace during a brief presentation ceremony, Nana Osei Kofi said the gesture forms part of his support for the OCRC.
He added that is meant to encourage inclusivity regardless of contestants’ personal disabilities.
In the past, the Chief has provided educational support to about 800 needy students, including cash, tablets and food.
Mr. Tweneboa Kodua, Programme Manager in charge of Education at the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation, who accompanied the beneficiary contestants and their mothers to receive the rewards, commended Nana Osei Kofi for his kind gesture.
He urged the students to study hard to encourage the Chief and other supporters of the OCRC to continue giving their best to support quality education.
