Story

A 30 YEAR old man is being caged for questioning after police arrested him at a known ‘Wee’ base during a swoop.

Suspect Emmanuel Neigo was picked up at a popular ‘Wee’ ghetto at Adugyama, near Mankranso, in the Ashanti Region.

He was subjected to a thorough search after the arrest but nothing incriminating was found on him.

However, when police searched the entire ghetto, wrapped substances suspected to be ‘Wee’ and other illegal items, were found.

The Mankranso District Police, who conducted the swoop around 6pm on June 10, 2022, instantly arrested Neigo.

A police report sighted by Press1News said the swoop was intended to flush out criminals from the community.

“The swoop was to flush out criminals from the various drug peddling and narcotic ghettos within Adugyama and its environs.

“Suspect Neigo Emmanuel, 30 years, was arrested but a search conducted on him revealed nothing incriminating”, it said.

“A search at the scene revealed 80 wrappers of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp and 9 packets of gold seal cigarettes.

“Three packets of Rothmans cigarettes, two pairs of scissors, a bicycle and 3 bags with one containing personal effects were found”.

The police document says investigations are underway, adding that Neigo is being detained for profiling.
