MR. FRANCIS Addai-Nimoh, who is seeking for the flagbearership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has indicated his commitment to fix the economy by cutting down on unnecessary expenditure when he gets the mandate to lead the party and the next government.
The flagbearer hopeful of the party said given the mandate to lead the party, he would cut down some unnecessary expenditure.
He said the economy is in shambles and needs to be stabilised by correcting the the imbalances including avoiding the fanfares for sod cutting for projects, flamboyance and unnecessary expenditure on foreign trips by the presidency.
According to him, commissioning of projects would take precedence over sod cutting ceremonies in his administration to avoid cost.
He also believed the presidency should not be involved in the commissioning of just any projects because there are projects which could be commissioned on behalf of the government or the presidency by Metropolitan, municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) and government officials at various levels of governance.
He said under his presidency, he would ensure that the basic characteristics of the economy are maintained to address the equation between revenue and expenditure.
Mr. Addai-Nimoh who is sees the opposition as part of government, said the leadership of both majority and minority would be engaged in dialogue and periodic interactions on how best to address corruption in the face of available resources.
