Old Asokwa To Get Health Facility In 6months Time, MP Breaks Ground For Construction

LEADERS OF Asokwa comprising of the Member of Parliament, Municipal Chief Executive, Chief of Asokwa and the Assembly man for Asokwa on Monday morning broke the ground for the construction of a modern health centre for the Old Asokwa Community. 

The facility which is being constructed at a cost of GHC 495,000 would also serve the adjoining towns in the Municipality upon completion.

At a brief ceremony at the construction site, Member of Parliament for Asokwa, Madam Patricia Appiagyei said that the Old Town Community deserved a place where residents could seek care anytime there was a health related case including emergencies.

“I realised that the Old Town community lacked a health center to take care of cases including emergencies at night and therefore together with the Assembly man and Asokwa MCE approached our Chief in Asokwa who has willingly offered us land to put up this facility which would take care of all health related issues in this community”, Madam Appiagyei stated.

MCE:

The Asokwa Municipal Chief Executive,  Chief Akwannuasah Gyimah commended the MP for using her common fund to advance the course of development in Asokwa.

He noted that the facility upon completion would become an avenue where people can easily visit to access health care.

Municipal Engineer:

Samuel Tettey, Asokwa Municipal Engineer assured the leaders in Asokwa that the contractor, Triumphant Company Limited, would work to deliver the project in six (6) months time.

He noted that procurement as well as value for money processes had been completed to facilitate the work of the contractor.

Municipal Health Director:
Madam Faustina Osei Mensah,  Asokwa Municipal Health Director also thanked the MP for deciding to use her common fund to construct the health center for the community.

She noted that the recent population census makes it imperative for all Municipal, Metropolitan and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to work assiduously to deliver health care to residents in all communities which do not have same.

Chief of Asokwa:

Nana Fe-Baamoah II, the Regent of Asokwa praised the Member of Parliament for such a good project.

He noted that he decided to support with the parcel of land since he believed that development was a shared responsibility.

Nana Fe-Baamoah urged the people in the community to support the project by keeping an eye on it to ensure it was delivered on time.

“We are grateful to the President of Ghana and our MP for deciding to use the common fund to provide us with a health facility and on our part we will support the contractor to complete the work within the scheduled time to ensure our people get access to this facility”, Nana stressed.

Facilities:

Upon completion, the health Centre will boast of an emergency ward, disease and prevention centre, labour ward and a consulting room.

Others would be the dressing and injection room, delivery ward, records area and others.

The MP noted that plans are far advanced to add a pharmaceutical area to the centers so that those who may be asked to buy medicines would have an avenue to do that.

Present at the ceremony were staff of the Asokwa Assembly, Executives and party members of the Asokwa branch of the NPP, Old Asokwa NDC women organiser as well as residents of the community.
