DR. MATTHEW Opoku Prempeh aka ‘Napo’ the 2024 Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will deliver an address at the Coventry University in the United Kingdom (UK) tomorrow, Wednesday, October 7, 2026.
Napo, who doubles as Ghana’s former Minister for Energy and Education, is a Special Guest at a Public Lecture, which is being organized by the top university.
The educational programme is under the topic ‘Education, Energy and Sustainable Development: Preparing Future Leaders for Africa’s Transformation’.
A statement from the university reads “On Wednesday, 7th October 2026, Coventry University will host a special Public Lecture on the topic: ‘Education, Energy and Sustainable Development: Preparing Future Leaders for Africa’s Transformation’.
“The lecture will feature Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, former Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, former Minister of Education, former Minister of Energy and 2024 NPP Vice-Presidential Candidate, as Special Guest”.
Napo, part of the statement indicates “will be joined by Prof. Andrew Turner, Vice-Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education) at Coventry University, and Prof. Jenna Ward, Dean of the College of Business and Law at Coventry University”.
Dr. Prempeh, a four-time Member of Parliament for Manhyia South Constituency in Kumasi, spearheaded the smooth implementation of the famous Free Senior High School (SHS) policy, during the NPP government’s administration.
The laudable social intervention programme has contributed to significantly increase enrollment in schools across the country, especially at the secondary school level.
During his tenure as the Energy Minister, Napo also worked tirelessly to stabilize power supply in the country, drawing admiration and applause from the citizens, especially those in the business sector.
Significantly, Napo has been adjudged as Ghana’s Best Minister a couple of times due to his excellent performance in government.
He has also been honoured by several top universities both in Ghana and abroad for his invaluable contributions to the country’s development.
