Less than 1 minute Minutes

Deputy IT Director for NPP Italy branch, Prince Boadu Boateng has commended the Minority Caucus in Parliament for displaying bouts of vigilance during the debate on the establishment of Goldbod by the NDC government.

He wondered why the Majority Caucus had presented a bill that wanted to make the Gold Board the only state agency that could buy and trade in Gold in the country.

“But for the meticulous attitude of the Minority Caucus, the NDC Majority group would have ensured that only the Minister Responsible for the GoldBod dictated persons who could be on the Board and supervised its activities”, Mr Boateng disclosed.

Details:

Mr Boateng noted that the NDC had wanted to smuggle items into the bill to ensure all revenue goes to the Gold board rather than the state which was to be represented by the Bank of Ghana.

He stated that the decision to also allow the Bank of Ghana to trade and buy Gold was smart one by the Minority who insisted that same should be the case.

“I am surprised the NDC wanted to trade and do business in Gold and deny the Bank of Ghana that access to do same when they know that Bank is the custodian of all state revenue”, Mr Boateng posited.

Mr Boateng therefore commended the Minority Caucus for showing leadership and ensuring Ghana gets a good deal in the activities of the Goldbod.

Charge:

The Deputy IT Director of the NPP has therefore charged the Minority Caucus to keep up their vigilant attitude.

This, he noted would prevent the NDC from shortchanging the country of the revenue due the state.

Additionally, he noted the Minority Caucus would prevent the government from introducing and passing legislation that would not inure to the benefit of the Ghanaian people.

“I am confident that this Mighty Minority with this kind of vigilance would keep the government on its toes and ensure that only legitimate businesses are transacted in Parliament”, Mr Boateng stated.
