Less than 1 minute

Residents of Daaban Newsite in Kumasi will soon heave a sigh of relief as an ongoing 6-kilometer road project in the area rapidly nears completion.

The roads, which have been dusty and unmotorable for decades, will connect commuters to Sokoban, Santase, and Ejisu through the Melcon road, upon completion.

Kumasi Mayor, Hon. Richard Ofori Agyeman Boadi, inspected the site with road engineers and technicians, expressing optimism about the project executed by Doncross Ltd.

Satisfied with the work so far, the Mayor said the road improvement is a testament to the government’s commitment to boosting road infrastructure, assuring it will improve air quality and mobility for residents and other users.

The road network is expected to ease traffic, enhance economic activities, and boost property values.

Drainage infrastructure is complete, and final compaction is underway, with bitumen surfacing set to begin next week.

Na-em Iddrisu, Regional Director for Urban Roads, assured the roads will be opened to traffic within two weeks.

Mayor Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi and his team later visited Duase Newsite to assess the road challenges faced by residents.

Preliminary measures are being taken, and the road, which will link Buoban and Asokore Mampong upon completion, is expected to be constructed by the end of 2026, according to city authorities.
