Virtually impaired farmer awarded at District Farmers’ Day Celebration

A 43-year-old farmer, Salifu Karim, who is virtually impaired, has been awarded Best Physically Challenged Farmer in the Ahafo Ano South East District at the 41st District Farmers’ Day celebration at Biemso No. 2.

Salifu Karim, a resident of Bonsukrom, is a four-acre cocoa, and also cultivate plantain, cassava, maize, beans, and tomatoes.

Additionally, the Bonsukrom resident rears goats and sheep.

When quizzed about how he manages to farm considering his physical condition, he stated that with identified landmarks, he is able to walk almost 20 minutes alone on a regular visit, including crossing a stream to work on his farm.

He further explained that after crossing the stream on his way to his farm, it takes him 75 seconds to arrive at a junction on his right, and from there, it also takes him 15 minutes to arrive at his farm.

He was awarded valuable farm inputs, a standing fan, and other items with thousands of cedis.

Moved by his inspiring story, Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Yakubu Mohammed, also gifted him 2,000 cedis in appreciation of his effort.
