BARRING ANY unforeseen circumstances, the Twedie District Hospital will begin full operations in June 2025.
The fully furnished, ultramodern facility with a 40-bed capacity is designed to enhance quality healthcare delivery.
It was one of the few health projects in the Ashanti Region commissioned by the former President, Nana Akufo-Addo, prior to the end of 2024.
According to the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atwima Kwanwoma District Assembly, Mrs. Grace Agyemang Asamoah, and Member of Parliament, Mr. Kofi Amankwah-Manu, all is set for the district hospital to begin operations.
The two top political figures in the district made the assurance at a brief but colorful durbar to officially open the health facility at its premises in Twedie on Monday, June 2, 2025.
In attendance were clergy, traditional leaders, heads of security services, staff of the facility, and the general public.
The hospital forms part of the health facilities project initiated by the erstwhile government to bring healthcare services closer to the people in the area.
In her speech, the DCE implored health workers to discharge their duties professionally to build the confidence of their clients.
She urged staff of the hospital to take ownership of the facility to ensure its longevity and good maintenance.
The Member of Parliament for Atwima Kwanwoma thanked the former President for building the Twedie District Hospital and the Agenda 111 Hospital at Trede.
He attributed the delay in opening the hospital to the training of staff to handle equipment and machinery.
Hon. Amankwa-Manu expressed his excitement that the hospital would provide proper healthcare to his constituents and others.
The Medical Superintendent, Dr. Esther Serwaa Agbedenu, stated that the opening of the hospital marked a new chapter in quality healthcare delivery in Twedie and its environs.
She thanked stakeholders, particularly political leaders and traditional leaders, for their roles in making the hospital a reality.
