The Resident Minister at Calvary Charismatic Center (CCC), Pastor Joshua Obeng says that the most crucial action a Christian can take to prompt God’s intervention on their behalf is to demonstrate total submission to Him.
Pastor Joshua emphasized that this act of humility is the singular pathway to attracting God’s favor and empowering believers to overcome the devil, whose inability to submit led directly to his fallen state.
Forbidden Word in Modernity:
Delivering a sermon titled “Submission: The Forbidden Word in a Generation” last Sunday at Ayigya, Pastor Joshua noted the growing difficulty people face in fully yielding to the dictates of the Bible.
“It is becoming increasingly challenging for people in this generation to wholly submit to God and totally obey His commands,” the CCC Resident Minister stated, adding that “but this very act is what ultimately brings about His favor and goodness.”
Christ as the Perfect Example:
Pastor Joshua highlighted the life of Jesus Christ as the paramount example of total submission to God.
He pointed out that Christ obeyed and submitted to God’s will even to the ultimate point of death on the cross of Calvary.
The Pastor asserted that Jesus’s example sets the standard for all Christians to follow.
“As Christians, our greatest exemplar is the one we follow, as He perfectly demonstrated humility and submission to the will of God while on earth,” the CCC Pastor stressed.
“Having done that, it is no surprise that God exalted Him above every other man or creation, and it is in His name that we conquer”, Pastor Joshua stated.
Practical Advice on Submission:
Pastor Joshua further advised the congregation to reject the belief that submitting to various authorities—be it in government, the workplace, or other organizations is a sign of weakness.
He specifically noted that a wife’s submission to her husband within a marriage is not an indication of inferiority, weakness, or servitude, but rather a godly act encouraged by scripture.
Consequently, the CCC Pastor urged those in positions of authority, including husbands in a marriage, not to abuse those who submit to them.
Instead, they should foster an environment of submission by offering encouragement, affirmation, and validation, Pastor Joshua urged.
“Women are encouraged by God to submit to their husbands, and similarly, their husbands are advised to submit to Christ,” Pastor Joshua concluded, “so that together, they may live a life wholly devoted to submission.”
