Less than 1 minute Minutes

State Experimental Basic School, located in Nhyiaeso, Kumasi, needs no further introduction, given its reputation for academic excellence.

Established in the 1950s, the school has trained countless professionals, entrepreneurs, politicians, and other individuals who have risen high on the social ladder, locally.

Despite its achievements, the school faces perennial challenges, including issues with its perimeter wall, poor landscaping, and encroachment of school land by private developers.

At a momentous ceremony to commission a 33-unit classroom block with auxiliary facilities on Thursday, May 22, 2025, built by the MP for Nhyiaeso, Dr. Stephen Amoah, the Metro Director of Education, Mr. David Oppong, in his address expressed concern about the school’s predicament.

He lamented that despite being regarded as a model school in the metropolis, it faces teething challenges.

He appealed to all stakeholders to come together to alleviate the burden on school authorities.

“I call on all stakeholders, including the government, metropolitan assembly, old students, parents, and well-meaning individuals, to come to the aid of the school in addressing the challenges confronting it, so that the environment befits a model school,” the Metro Director of GES emphasised.

He expressed gratitude to the MP for Nhyiaeso for his bold step in solving the classroom accommodation problem of the school, adding that other benevolent individuals in society could complement his effort by providing the school with furniture.
